Rate Stability Winter Procurements
Illinois Public Act 97-0616 (“PA 97-0616”), which aimed to promote price stability for residential and small commercial customers, became effective on October 26, 2011. Under PA 97-0616, the IPA conducted two procurement events. The first procurement event was to solicit bids for around-the-clock energy contracts over the period June 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017, with pricing escalating at 2.5% per annum. The second procurement was for the acquisition of Renewable Energy Certificates ("RECs") for delivery generally during the period June 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017. The procurement events took place on February 10, 2012, and February 16, 2012.
